Panagiotis Ilia

I am a postdoctoral research scientist in the Computer Science Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I received my B.Sc. from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece), M.Sc. from the University of Bristol (UK), and Ph.D. from the University of Crete (Greece). During my Ph.D. I was also working as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Distributed Computing Systems Lab (DCS), Institute of Computer Science (ICS), at the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH).

My research interests lie within the broader area of web security and privacy. In the past few years I have focused my research on investigating the security limitations of Online Social Networks (OSNs), and exploring the privacy threats that users face mainly due to shared content. Recently I have also worked on designing efficient certificate revocation mechanisms and investigated the behavior and extent of malicious web proxies. Currently, my work focuses on identifying and understanding the privacy threats that users face due to user tracking and fingerprinting, and designing techniques for mitigating these threats and better protecting users.
